AXIS Spinal
Indications:
- Congenital developmental defects of the spine and spinal cord (diastematomyelia, myelodysplasia, spina bifida: meningomyelocele, myelocele, syringomyelocele)
- consequences of spinal trauma (from 6-8 months after the injury)
- consequences of spinal cord vascular disorders (spinal cord infarction, haematomyelia)
- consequences of inflammatory diseases of the spinal cord of various origins (bacterial, viral, mycotic or parasitic myelitis)
- myelopathy of various origins (intervertebral disc damage, tumours, spondylosis)
The rehabilitation program helps to stimulate and use the compensatory abilities of the body, which can prevent the development of profound disability, allows the patient to adapt to life in new conditions, maximally adapting him for an active social life even with limited physical capabilities.
The purpose of this rehabilitation programme is to provide the patient with an optimal exercise regime, to improve metabolic processes in the body by improving blood microcirculation and tissue trophicity, to prevent or reduce the occurrence of pressure sores and contractures, to strengthen back and abdominal muscles, to teach correct breathing, strengthen weakened limb muscles, relieve muscle spasms, improve postural stability and support function of the limbs, shape and refine physiological movement stereotypes and thus increase his independence and quality of life, as well as promote his adequate social integration.
