EARLY REHABILITATION
Early diagnosis and subsequent rehabilitation is the basic prevention against the development of permanent sequelae. For premature babies, developmental delays, central tone disorder, epilepsy or suspected genetic disease, do not wait, support your baby’s development and start rehabilitation. In our centre we work with your baby from the 3rd week of age with excellent results.
The AXIS concept is based on intensive, comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation using a variety of world-renowned methods and techniques, which are combined according to the needs of the patient. Each program is tailored to the specific needs of the patient, taking into account their requirements and needs.
The basis of our therapy is neurophysiological exercise (PNF method, Vojta, Bobath) with a team of 2-3 therapists, which is carried out in two phases- morning and afternoon. The rehabilitation program includes other supportive therapies based on the doctor’s indication. At AXIS Medical Center, we guarantee certified therapy with qualified staff with years of experience.

CEREBRAL PALSY
Cerebral palsy (CP) is a neurological disorder characterized by disruption of the neuromuscular system in the areas of muscle tension, muscle strength, coordination and movement patterns. Early and regular rehabilitation is an essential and key therapeutic modality in the treatment of DMO.
Our treatment is based on the latest research on brain neuroplasticity- that is, the brain’s innate ability to change and adapt throughout a patient’s lifetime. We place a strong emphasis on an active approach in therapy, including intensive repetitive practice of specific tasks to promote neuroplasticity in order to improve brain development and function.
The AXIS concept is based on intensive, comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation using a variety of world-recognized methods and techniques, which are combined with each other according to the needs of the patient.
The basis of our therapy is intensive neurophysiological exercise in a weight suit with a team of 2-3 therapists. The rehabilitation program also includes anti-gravity therapy in conditions of isolated weight relief of the patient’s body weight using various elastic slings and counterweights in suspension systems (Spider/Ugul/Pragma), hydrokinesiotherapy, manual therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and other supportive therapies based on the doctor’s indication.
Each program is tailored to the patient’s specific needs and requirements, taking into account the patient’s overall skills, abilities, as well as the need for recovery. As motor disorders are often accompanied by perceptual, cognitive, communication, behavioural, or epilepsy disorders, neurorehabilitation of children and adults with DMO requires a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. At AXIS Medical Center, we guarantee certified therapy with qualified staff with years of experience.

DOWN SYNDRÓM
The child with DS develops at his/her own pace and needs not only the loving care of parents, but also different therapeutic approaches that support the development of his/her personality and lead him/her to independence. Early rehabilitation also facilitates contact and communication with other children and integration into society. Our centre is the only centre in Slovakia specialising in the rehabilitation of children with Down syndrome, which takes into account their specific needs.
The AXIS concept is based on intensive, comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation using various world-recognized methods and techniques, which are combined according to the needs of the patient. Our rehabilitation programmes for children with Down syndrome take into account the individual behavioural characteristics of the child, strengthen their emotional stability and give them the opportunity to discover their potential.
The basis of our therapy is intensive neurophysiological exercise in a weight suit with a team of 2-3 therapists. The rehabilitation program also includes anti-gravity therapy in conditions of isolated body weight relief of the patient using various elastic slings and counterweights in suspension systems (Spider/Ugul/Pragma), hydrokinesiotherapy, manual therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and other supportive therapies based on the indication of the physician.
Each program is individually set and adapted to the needs of the patient, taking into account their overall skills, abilities, but also the need for regeneration. As motor disorders are often accompanied by perceptual, cognitive, communication and behavioural disorders, the programme requires a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. At AXIS Medical Center, we guarantee certified therapy with qualified staff with years of experience.

STROKE
Rehabilitation has an irreplaceable place in the successful management of the condition of sudden onset stroke. It is a complex process that requires a multidisciplinary approach to improve the patient’s course of management, reduce deficits and accelerate the patient’s reintegration into the family and work environment.
The AXIS concept is based on intensive, comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation using a variety of world-recognised methods and techniques, which are combined according to the patient’s needs. We recognize that time plays the most important role in post-trauma rehabilitation. In the treatment of hemiparesis, monoparesis, or triparesis, we emphasize proper assessment of increased muscle tension, sensory impairment or unawareness of disability as well as the inability for self-care activities and other global functions.
The basis of therapy is individual neurophysiological exercise in a weight-bearing suit with a team of 2-3 therapists. The rehabilitation program also includes anti-gravity therapy in isolated conditions to relieve the patient’s body weight using various elastic slings and counterweights in suspension systems (Spider/Ugul/Pragma), hydrokinesiotherapy, manual therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy and other supportive therapies based on the physician’s indication.
Because brain injuries vary from patient to patient, this care is always “tailored” to the individual patient. At AXIS Medical Center, we guarantee certified therapy with qualified staff with years of experience.

TRAUMA
Craniocerebral trauma
The ever-increasing statistics of rescued people after head trauma force us to look for effective therapeutic approaches. Up to 90% of people with brain injury are physically cured within one year, although severe mobility and speech impairments or associated conditions such as epilepsy may persist. In craniocerebral trauma, there are changes not only in motor, cognition and swallowing, but also in tactile, olfactory, gustatory, visual and thermoregulatory perception.
At our center, we work with people with varying degrees of central nervous system damage. The core symptoms include: central paresis associated with spasticity, cerebral nerve disorders, extrapyramidal disorders, cerebellar disorders, fatal, psychiatric and cognitive disorders.

Spinal Trauma
Spinal patients with the consequences of spinal and spinal cord injuries (tetraplegia, paraplegia, tetraparesis and paraparesis) due to car accidents, falls from heights or sports injuries require a multidisciplinary approach and an individual approach. Intensive rehabilitation treatment is needed especially in the period of 2 years after the injury, when the health status is most likely to improve.
The main role of early neurorehabilitation is to promote spontaneous regeneration and maximise the use of brain plasticity, which, in the context of rehabilitation, makes it possible to activate the impaired function with appropriate inputs in order to maximise the recovery of lost functions, to make the best use of the remaining muscle potential and to establish replacement mechanisms in order to achieve the highest possible level of self-sufficiency and quality of life. The selection of the appropriate physiotherapy technique is based on the patient’s medical condition and the level of the spinal cord lesion. The patient’s load is dosed according to his/her current state of health.

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic, progressive disease that affects people at different ages – from infants and children to adolescents and adults, with varying levels of severity. Newborns and infants most commonly develop SMA with onset in infancy and it is the most severe form of the disease, which can lead to paralysis and prevents infants from performing basic life functions such as swallowing or breathing.
SMA with onset later in life is most common in adolescents and adults, who may experience significant muscle weakness and disability, such as being unable to stand or walk without assistance.
The treatment of patients diagnosed with SMA is a complex process that requires a multidisciplinary approach. First and foremost, medical treatment with Spinraza (Nusinersen), Evrysdi (Risdiplam) and Zolgensma (Onasemnogen abeparvovec), which either activate a functionally similar gene to the defective gene (Spinraza and Evrysdi), is important, or contain a functional copy of the defective gene (Zolgensma) that is the cause of the disease, is to ensure the production of sufficient quantities of a protein necessary for the prolonged survival and functioning of the nerves controlling muscle movement (motoneurons). Rehabilitation is an essential part of medical treatment.
The main task of neurorehabilitation in cases of SMA is to maintain an adequate level of functional status and vital functions of patients, thus preventing or reducing the occurrence of skeletal deformities, respiratory and swallowing disorders, forming and refining physiological movement stereotypes, improving quality of life and promoting maximum social adaptation.
The AXIS concept is based on intensive, comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation using a variety of world-renowned methods and techniques, which are combined according to the needs of the patient and the type of SMA. The basis of the therapy is intensive neurophysiological exercise with a team of 2-3 therapists. The rehabilitation program also includes anti-gravity therapy in conditions of isolated weight relief of the patient’s body weight using various elastic slings and counterweights in suspension systems (Spider/Ugul/Pragma), hydrokinesiotherapy, manual therapy and other supportive therapies based on the indication of the physician.
